What’s the 90-9-1 rule in Social Media?

The 90-9-1 rule will help you keep things in perspective.  According to online community mangers,

  • about 1% of the members of an online community contribute 90% of the content.
  • Another 9% comment occasionally.  So what does that leave?
  • 90% just read!

So don't forget about your silent majority.  Even though they aren't actively posting, they read and are informed by the community.  You reach more people than you might realize.
